Egor Shestakov and David Bowcock visit MIPIM2023

The team at Sixpenny Group were pleased to be able to attend MIPIM2023, the principal global real estate event held every year in Cannes, France.

It was a chance for the Sixpenny Group directors Egor Shestakov and David Bowcock to meet with a wide range of contacts across the commercial, industrial and residential property space.

The event was also an opportunity for knowledge exchange around current trends in the UK and international real estate markets and important issues such as ESG.

The team’s packed diary focused on:

-Logistics property development: Attending the Eurologix event as guests of our agent partners DTRE. Logistics is a key market for Sixpenny Group following the successful development and disposal of the Evri-leased Gemstone Building to CBRE Investment Management for £47.7 million in September 2022. Our directors Egor Shestakov and David Bowcock enjoyed discussing changing industry dynamics and how property investors and developers are responding to the rapid evolution of e-commerce supply chain and distribution practices.

-Office real estate: With post-pandemic changes to resourcing models impacting landlord and occupier relationships, Sixpenny Group is focused on ensuring our office development pipeline meets occupier demand for highly flexible workspace. Sixpenny Group directors Egor Shestakov and David Bowcock had great session with James Rankin, Head of Research and Insight at The Instant Group who shared his latest thinking around flex and collaboration.

-The Baltics commercial property market: An important focus for Sixpenny Group at MIPIM was meeting with international agents from the Baltics to discuss building on our successful investment and development track record in the region. Our Directors Egor Shestakov and David Bowcock were able to discuss large scale investment projects and potential JV’s with active local Baltic developers, investors and agents like CBRE and Colliers. The team were also fortunate to meet the mayor of Riga, Martins Stakis, and learn more about the fantastic Riga Port City mixed-use development.

-Asset Management: Sixpenny Group is focused on growth and innovation across all aspects of real estate, so it was great to engage with representatives from Catella APAM to discuss the current opportunities and trends in value-add asset management. It’s a strategic focus for our business, so the insight shared by founding Director Simon Cooke and senior asset manager Andrew Day was useful to shaping our thinking in this area of the built environment.

-ESG: This was a vital strand running through MIPIM2023 and provided Sixpenny Group Directors Egor Shestakov and David Bowcock with insight into the latest thinking that will inform how we invest, develop property and run our business.

Egor Shestakov, Director of Sixpenny Group, said: “After the disruption of COVID it was great to see MIPIM2023 back in full swing. The event remains invaluable for forging new connections that underpin Sixpenny Group’s rapid growth.

“Despite economic headwinds, the level of enthusiasm, confidence and long-term vision on display was impressive. It’s clear there remains huge appetite to invest and develop high quality commercial, industrial and residential real estate.

“For an entrepreneurial developer like Sixpenny Group, the arket’s willingness to collaborate and innovate is inspirational.

“We’re all looking forward to MIPIM 2024.
